The Light House hotel is located within the Huye-Butare district, nestled in the Southern province of Rwanda. Huye has the second largest population in Rwanda following Kigali.

Known as one of the oldest forests in Africa, Nyungwe National Park houses over 70 different mammal species. Nyungwe is just a 20 minute drive from Huye, where you can catch a bus to take you to and from the park. Explore the wildlife with the only canopy walk in eastern Africa or if you’re feeling adventurous you could try Chimpanzee Tracking. Nyungwe also offers various hikes for those travelers looking for a challenge.
Huye also offers many activities that are walking distance from the Light House hotel.
Learn about Rwandan culture at the National Ethnographic Museum. You can explore different galleries that provide historical information, artistic works and handmade artifacts from Rwanda.
Huye Stadium was chosen to host the Africa Nations’ Championship (CHAN) in 2016. The stadium hosts many national games between Rwandan teams throughout the year. The stadium seats around 15,000 people.
Throughout Huye there are small markets in which handmade good are sold. Additionally, the city center houses a large shopping mall.
For our coffee loving guests, Huye Mountain Coffee is a must see during your visit. They offer tours of their coffee plantation
explaining the process, from seeding to packaging, that their coffee beans go through. At the end of your tour you will also receive a free sample of Huye Mountain Coffee beans.
This company is known as being one of the best coffee suppliers in Rwanda, and they hope to continue to promote coffee beans as a cash crop in Huye. The Light House Hotel is proud to serve Huye Mountain Coffee in its restaurant.
